I’ve chosen to run the London Marathon and raise money for The Rossendale Trust because I think it’s a really great place with values I really believe in. They empower people with learning disabilities, encouraging independence, developing life skills and promoting choice.
The Rossendale Trust is a charity that supports people with learning disabilities. The mission of the trust is to meet the needs of the people in their care by supporting them to live full and meaningful lives, and their vision is to create an environment in which people can develop and grow, enabling them to have ownership of their own lives and futures.
The money I raise will specifically go towards their WorkTaste scheme, helping to provide work opportunities that most of us take for granted. The WorkTaste scheme, which offers work placements within local businesses and community projects, relies solely on donations to continue its valuable work. I feel passionately about integrating people with learning disabilities into local communities so I hope I raise lots of money!
£500 pays for a 6 week work based programme supported by a 1:1 work coach. So £1500 could impact on the lives of the people who attend WorkTaste at the Rossendale Trust!
